Can a stay at home mom really make $10,000 a month flipping houses from home?
I get this question all the time from people who are looking to change their life through real estate and my answer is always … ABSOLUTLY!
If you would have asked me this question 2 years ago I would have been skeptical. My husband was working 50+ hours a week at our family business trying to get ahead and I was a stay at home mom taking care of my 5 children and raising 2 grandchildren. One of them is handicapped and needs my full time care.
In 2007 my husband’s business began reaping the consequences of a struggling economy. We were suddenly faced with our home going into foreclosure, no money to pay our utilities and barely enough money to buy food for our children. Our world had fallen and it wasn’t getting up! We were headed to homeless fast and we had no idea how to stop it!
~~We had exhausted every resources, blew through our savings and sold everything we owned that had any value including our wedding bands trying to survive. ~~
Then one night as we were watching television (my husband flipping the channels as usual… this is truly a man thing!) he landed on one of Dean Graziosi’s infomercials. ” You can change your life through real estate investing” were the words that echoed from the television. We watched the rest of the infomercial and then ordered the book ” Be A Real Estate Millionaire”.
I knew nothing about real estate, but I was willing to give it a shot.
~~ My idea of a Real Estate Investor was a fat guy in a suite sitting at a desk at Wall Street staring at his Rolex watch. ~~
When the book arrived I read it and immediately began implementing the step by step techniques. It all seemed so overwhelming…Building my buyer’s list, scouting neighborhoods for vacant houses, putting properties under contract then selling them to end buyers ( real estate wholesaling). I was scared to death!!! But I had to do it… I had to do it afraid!!!
~~ Long story short.. I made my first $10,000 within 2 months!! ~~
I am now a stay at home mom earning $10,000 a month wholesaling houses from home. Dean Graziosi’s book ” Be A Real Estate Millionaire” gave me all of the basics that I needed to start making money in real estate. I am not going to say that it was the book itself that has made me money. It was up to me to take what I learned in the book and put it into action.

Carol, you are one of the localheroes that I look to for inspiration here in Philly. I love to listen to you speak with Dean and I totally feel your sincere desire to help…like Dean. Having read all three of dean’s books and read the success stories, the challenge for me is locating an area that investors want to buy in. I will slug it out with myself but thanks for your journey. It helps. I wish I were going to the Edge this year…but 2011 is right around the corner.

I can appreciate your story. I, too, have five children. I do not, however, have the two grandchildren. My wife home-schools the kids (which means she’s ‘swamped’)and I was just recently laid off so I’m looking furiously to work. My question to you is this: How in the world were you able to drive around looking for properties with seven kids? I’d love to be able to make $10K/month. I’d forget about looking for a job. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Your story is so inspirational but I need to know. Where do you talk about how you did the twist to do it from home? I have been trying to work these ideas. I have the book and the websites but I have 4 children all day long, one infant and one special needs child that I cannot take anywhere due to his behavioral issues. What do I do? I can’t meet with people or go to the courthouse to research properties. How did you do it? I know you did it but I need some help. We are about where you were. Can’t pay our bills, struggling with everything, selling anything we can. I need to make this work. How do you do it from your computer? I’m going to keep reading your posts and hope to find some other hints. Thank you for your inspiration.
